FAQs
If you previously lived in the home or purchased the home to live in, you need to check with your insurance broker to ensure your policy has been converted from a traditional homeowner's policy to a landlord/rental policy. This is necessary because most traditional homeowner's insurance policies have exclusions for coverage if the property is rented and as a result, insurance claims are likely to get denied once the insurer learns the property is rented.
We recommend a landlord/rental insurance policy that includes:
Property coverage for the home and any other structures at the property (pools, sheds, etc.)
Liability coverage for third party injuries or claims arising from the property by tenants or guests.
Loss of rental income coverage should the property become uninhabitable due to a covered loss (for example, roof issues, fire, flood, etc.)

This is policy-specific question, so you'll need to check with your insurance broker. Typically, adding an additional insured does not change your policy or coverage level, but every policy is different so you'll want to discuss this with your insurance broker.
